How the Sustainable Development Goals shape our approach

    Insights 2 min. read — Oct 6, 2026

The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a set of 17 global goals adopted in 2015 as part of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

The goals provide a common framework for addressing key environmental, social, and economic challenges, including energy access, responsible production, infrastructure development, and climate action.

Today, the SDGs are widely used by governments, industries, and businesses to help guide sustainability efforts across operations, supply chains, and long-term development strategies.

While our activities may contribute to several of the SDGs, five are particularly relevant to Vikinor and the areas where we can contribute most directly.

    Our contributions to the SDGs

SDG 7 – Affordable and clean energy

Supporting cleaner and more efficient energy solutions is increasingly important across the industries we serve. At Vikinor, we contribute by integrating renewable energy into solutions that improve operational efficiency, reduce energy consumption, and support more sustainable infrastructure.

In some regions, this also includes helping connect off-grid and rural areas through reliable energy solutions that support self-sufficiency and economic development.

SDG 8 – Decent work and economic growth

As a global supplier serving customers and partners across multiple markets, Vikinor contributes to economic activity in the industries and regions where we operate.

We are committed to maintaining responsible labor standards, safe working environments, and fair business practices, both within our own organization and throughout our value chain.

SDG 9 – Industry, innovation and infrastructure

We contribute to industry innovation and decarbonization through resilient and adaptable solutions for cooling, powering, and protection of infrastructure systems.

By helping keep critical infrastructure reliable, resilient, and secure, these solutions support the communications and industrial systems that communities and businesses depend on.

SDG 12 – Responsible consumption and production

As a manufacturing company, responsible resource management is an important part of how we operate. We continuously work to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and support more circular practices through retrofitting solutions, long product lifecycles, and the reuse or recycling of production scrap materials through external partners.

    SDG 13 – Climate action

Sustainability is a core part of our strategy, not just in the products we offer, but in how we do business. We are focused on mitigating climate change by integrating climate-resilient solutions, decarbonizing our own operations and promoting climate action along our value chain.

The role of the SDGs in our work

The Sustainable Development Goals provide a useful framework for understanding how businesses can contribute to broader environmental and social progress.

For Vikinor, the SDGs serve as a supporting framework for understanding how our activities relate to broader environmental and social priorities, while keeping our sustainability efforts connected to practical actions and long-term industry needs.
